1. Overview
is-pinoy.dev is a free subdomain service operated by the is-pinoy-dev open source community on GitHub. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its implementing rules.
This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a data subject.
2. What We Collect
When you register a subdomain, we collect only the information you voluntarily submit via a GitHub pull request:
- Your GitHub username
- Your chosen subdomain name
- Your DNS records (the targets your subdomain points to)
- The date of your registration
- Your email address (optional — only if you choose to provide it, used solely to contact you about your subdomain)
We do not collect passwords, payment information, or any other personal data beyond what is visible in your GitHub pull request.
3. How We Use Your Information
The information collected is used solely to:
- Provision and manage your subdomain in our DNS configuration
- Identify your registration for support and abuse resolution
- Maintain a public record of registered subdomains in the open source repository
- Contact you regarding your subdomain (only if an email address was provided)
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing or commercial purposes.
4. Public Nature of Registrations
All subdomain registrations are made via pull requests to a public GitHub repository (is-pinoy-dev/domains). By submitting a registration, you acknowledge that your GitHub username and subdomain name will be publicly visible in that repository's history.
5. Third-Party Services
The service relies on the following third-party platforms, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- GitHub — pull request and repository hosting (github.com/privacy)
- Cloudflare or equivalent DNS provider — DNS record hosting and resolution
We have no control over the data practices of these third parties.
6. Data Retention
Your subdomain record is retained for as long as your subdomain remains active. If your subdomain is removed — by your request or by the maintainers — your DNS record will be deleted from the active configuration. Historical git commits in the public repository may still reference your username as part of the immutable repository history.
7. Your Rights
Under RA 10173, you have the right to:
- Access — request confirmation of what data we hold about you
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate information
- Erasure — request removal of your subdomain and associated data
- Portability — receive a copy of your data in a readable format
- Object — object to processing of your personal data
To exercise any of these rights, open an issue at github.com/is-pinoy-dev with your request.
8. Security
Subdomain records are stored in a public GitHub repository. While we follow responsible open source practices, we cannot guarantee the security of publicly hosted data. Do not submit sensitive personal information beyond your GitHub username.
9. Children's Privacy
This service is intended for developers and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Changes will be published in this document and announced via the is-pinoy-dev GitHub organization. Continued use of your subdomain after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
